What Therapy Actually Feels Like
You don’t have to be in crisis
One of the biggest myths about therapy is that you have to be at breaking point to come.
You don’t.
Therapy can be a space to, make sense of things, explore patterns, feel heard, or begin to treat yourself with a bit more understanding.
Why Am I So Hard on Myself?
Self-criticism often has a purpose even if it doesn’t feel that way.
It might try to keep you motivated, stop you from making mistakes, protect you from judgement or rejection, or keep things under control.
In that sense, it’s not trying to harm you.
It’s trying often quite desperately to help.
But the way it does this can be harsh, relentless, and unforgiving.
